On behalf of DIBF, we are proud to warmly welcome
you to our new organisation and our new website. This is a new
exciting and positive era for Deaf basketball world, into the
future.
Basketball has been increasing popular among elite Deaf athletes
around the world. Several International and national basketball
competitions have already been held for several years under an
international organization of sports for the Deaf - "Comite
International des Sports des Sourds" (CISS). This international
Deaf sports is proud to have had such a long history of Deaf sports
since establishing in 1924 - the oldest of international organizations
on sport for disabled people.
Deaf sports has expanded dramatically, therefore the needs to
separate and focus on the core of Deaf basketball, hence the Deaf
International Basketball Federation (DIBF) was officially
formed in Rome, Italy on 27 July 2001 by newly elected Deaf executive
committee and members from different parts of the world.
DIBF intends to be a global organisation as governing body of
Deaf basketball and will have strong tier link to FIBA
(International Basketball Federation) and CISS.
DIBF will be responsible for Deaf World Basketball Championships,
Deaf basketball zone regions, supports to developing countries
and to name many.
From time to time, this website will gradually grow and more
interesting contents to be added. You may see some web pages may
be still blank as we are currently working on it to complete.
There may be additional features on this site down the track such
as email subscriptions for monthly newsletters, video clips and
miscellaneous. Stay tuned and it's exciting to watch it grows!
