The DIBF Central Board has decided at its meeting in Melbourne, Australia, that China will be the host for the 2007 DIBF World Deaf Basketball Championship. The 5 member board voted on two candidates who also included a bid from fiercely competitive Venezuela.
DIBF would like to thank Venezuela for their outstanding bid. The decision was preceded by site inspections at each bidding country and a report headed by DIBF Secretary General. “Both bids were exceptionally good. This was a very difficult decision for the Central Board, but at the same time it showed the big interest from our members to host our prime event.”.
DIBF look forward to their making of the DIBF World Deaf Basketball Championship the most prestigious and important sports event in the year 2007. China Deaf Sports Federation in co-operation with Guangzhou Deaf Sports Federation will start their global promotion campaign in cooperation with all continental organisations of DIBF after the 2005 - 20th Melbourne Deaflympic Games. They will incorporate a strong support from the Chinese Government.
On behalf of DIBF Central Board, it members and Deaflympics/CISS Executive Committee, we wish to congratulates to the successful bidder - China Deaf Sports Federation for 2nd DIBF World Deaf Basketball Championship to be held in Guangzhou, China in 2007.
